There is a change in weather and it is easy to tell that it is indeed getting warmer in most parts of the country. Groupon Inc (NASDAQ:GRPN) has moved ahead to ask about 1,000 of the U.S. parents a question. The top provider in asking the question is sought to establish the exact time the different families intended to spend on the various electronic devices in the course of that particular summer.
The shocking aspect was that one of the staggering results that were obtained and that has raised a lot of eyebrows if not all! The reality of the matter is that an average American family usually spends about 35 days of their summer in front of their electronic devices.
This particular survey was as a matter of fact carried out for Groupon’s Funtacular Fun Fest which had earlier on been set to kick start from May 18-20.The latest revelation is that an average child during summer watches an estimate of about 60 movies not forgetting the 150 hours video game play. This is drastic to say the least.
The head of Fun Things To Do at Groupon, Greg Rudin in speaking to a number of top news reporters said, “We love technology, but we also think it should be in the service of something we love even more, which is spending time with our families and experiencing the compelling local activities offered during the summer months and throughout the year. As parents, we’re often just as guilty as our kids when it comes to screen time, which is why it’s important for the entire family to put down our devices every once in awhile and go make some memories together.”
A lot of questions were actually posed to different parents; one of them being on how destructive they thought watching too much screen was to their children. 77 percent of them outlined that such exposure went quite a long way to influence the general mood of their children.
Another 62 percent went ahead top state that they had to waste much time struggling with their children to actually put down the various devices. Another group said that too screen time impacted sleeping patterns of their children. It goes without saying that something needs to be done and that parents have some role to play.
