Oclaro, Inc. (NASDAQ:OCLR) Appoints Ian Small To Lead Global Communications Services

Oclaro, Inc. (NASDAQ:OCLR) recently appointed Ian Small as a new member to its board of directors to lead the Company’s global communications services. The appointment is effective from September 1.

Small has extensive experience in leading the communication services across the world and has worked with several companies as an executive and technology strategist and hence, in his new position, he is expected to strengthen the board of Oclaro as they anticipate a bright future, according to board chairman, Marissa Peterson.

Small, 53, has over 25 years professional experience with a span of experience in digital services, communications services, and technology innovation and strategy with leading companies across the globe. For instance, he was recently heading the TokBox as the chairman and Telefónica S.A. as the chief data officer. Other leading companies that he has worked with include the MarkLogic, USWeb/CKS, and marchFIRST, and Apple where he began his career.

Small holds a Masters Degree in Computer Science and Bachelors Degree in Engineering Science from the University of Toronto. He also possesses over nine US patents to his name. During the appointment to Oclaro, Small expressed his eagerness to join the strong team at the Company and expects to use his extensive experience to support the firm’s management team and help in building the company’s strong values for its shareholders, consumers and employees across the globe.

The latest appointment was concluded on July 27 when Oclaro decided to increase the size of its Board from the current seven to eight executive members. The newly appointed director, Small, will serve in the position of Class II director and his term will be reviewed in 2018 during the Company’s Annual Stakeholders Meeting.

Oclaro serves a huge market across the globe and it’s renowned for its leading optical components, modules, and subsystems in various markets including the optical, enterprise and data centers. With the new communications services director, Oclaro expects to grow its optical networks to enhance the high-speed application services including the video streams, cloud computing, and IP voice and other bandwidth-intensive services.
