Nokia Oyj (ADR)(NYSE:NOK) Reports Strategic Deal With Amazon Web Services

Nokia Oyj (ADR)(NYSE:NOK) reported a strategic deal with Amazon Web Services, Inc. that will boost the migration of service provider apps to the cloud and lead digital innovation for large enterprise clients. On their way to achieve the flexibility and performance brought by cloud technologies, Enterprises and Communication Service Providers require solutions to address the connectivity requirements of cloud-based applications like virtualized network, routing services and optimizing latency, and solutions for the IoT.

AWS and Nokia are working together to bring a powerful and unique set of solutions that will allow service providers to implement cloud plans faster using Nokia’s expertise in wireline, 5G technologies and wireless. Large enterprises need fully managed connectivity to use cloud infrastructure, and fully integrated analytics and IoT solutions to improve their ease of digitalization and productivity.

The two firms will work to offer differentiated solutions utilizing Nokia SD-WAN and its IMPACT IoT base in combination with AWS Greengrass, artificial intelligence services and machine learning. The scope of the deal reported covers four segments of collaboration. Nokia will assist service providers in their AWS implementation plan with a comprehensive suite of services including integration, migration, operation, consulting and design for applications and infrastructure.

AWS and Nokia will work together to generate latest Edge Cloud and 5G plans and guidance for clients including reference architectures that allow both enterprises and service providers to benefit. Both are working to bring an enhanced user experience for Nuage Networks SD-WAN consumers who use AWS. Enterprises can gain from this smooth integration with AWS and introduce secure branch connectivity in cross environments with “Single Pane of Glass” competencies.

Eventually, the firms are commercializing IoT use cases with Amazon Machine Learning, AWS Greengrass, Nokia IMPACT platform and Nokia Multi-access Edge Computing. Kathrin Buvac, the Chief Strategy Officer of Nokia, expressed that the 4th Industrial Revolution needs a tighter integration between the networking infrastructure and IT worlds. Their deal with AWS will support the migration of service provider apps to the cloud and allow the firm to forge new chances together by offering on next-generation cloud services and connectivity.
