Nokia Oyj (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) Tests Its Latest And Top End Wireless Applications For University Of Notre Dame Stadium, Sources Report

Nokia Oyj (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) has collaborated with the Wireless Institute in the College of Engineering at the University of Notre Dame and some trusted sources reveal that the two have succeeded in testing applications based on Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC).

This software platform is renowned globally for delivering scalability, flexibility as well as efficiency to networks with multiple base stations. It is thus possible to improve speed of access to data services to a wide range of the congested areas.

According to Yahoo.com, the two had a vision of scaling the solution for the university’s football stadium and in the process of achieving this they carried out some live tests at the Compton Ice Arena. They targeted finding out just how technology could dramatically enhance the user experience of sports fans attending games and other events as well as that of students.

Different persons attending music and sports events continue hoping for even more reliable mobile connectivity since that would help a huge deal. It would be possible to access related content like view replays, player performance stats, multiple camera angles as well as get to connect to the social media platform.

However, in venues such as stadiums, high demand for content is many at times limited by overloaded and inconsistent cellular and Wi-Fi coverage making it challenging to obtain high end services. Basically, technology can help improve data throughput in venues such as stadiums where most at times you will find many mobile users making efforts to access the content and network simultaneously.

Global Alliance director for Nokia, Joe Hammer while recently addressing a press conference said, “Mobile Edge Computing is ideal for enabling low-latency applications tailored to specific enterprise needs such as those of the University of Notre Dame. MEC enables exciting new marketing opportunities for venues, smart cities and retailers to provide digital advertising, customized services or enhanced user experiences.”

He added that Nokia was committed to continue striking important partnerships that would help it leverage MEC to analyze customers’ behaviors and preferences with cognitive analytics. By deploying applications at the network edge, the high end company hopes to serve its wide customers base with rich and engaging content.
