MTS PJSC EACH CEDEAR REP 0.5 ADR (BCBA:MBT) and Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson have successfully attained a high record of data speed in the recent trial of the 5G technology in Russia.
During the testing period, the data transfer speed went up to 25 Gbps recording the first highest speed in Russia on a mobile prototype of a smartphone. In the past, the 5G tests were only conducted among the stationary devices. The trials were carried out at the Moscow’s ‘Opening Arena’ stadium where the base station conducted transmissions. The data transfer speed was allocated to transfer the traffic of all MTS subscribers that had exchanged been in the last year which included all the downloads and movie streams, the video calls, Internet surfing, and media files transfers.
The two companies also experienced other benefits of 5G technology for various circumstances including the possible online video streaming in the 4K design, the virtual reality services, and remote robot control on the mobile network that necessitated ultra-small delays and higher rates of data bundles. The results from the trials revealed a possible improvement of high data speeds in Russia on mobile devices such as smartphones which, could start embracing the 5G technology.
MTS is at the moment developing a network for data transfer and trying available solutions to prepare the nation for the standardization. The company has laid a foundation in cooperation with other partners to develop an extensive 5G demo zone to cover all the sports festivals expected to take place in Russia in 2018. According to the Head of Customer Unit MTS, Hannes Ekstrom, the great and vibrant 5G network will allow the operators to create many innovative products and services which will generate more venues for the government.
It will also enhance the automation and streamline of many business processes. The tests were some of the achievements between MTS and Ericsson as part of their strategic partnership that was signed in 2015 where the two companies agreed to develop and implement the 5G technology in Russia.
