Finjan Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:FNJN) Ends Controversy With Avast

Finjan Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:FNJN) announced that its subsidiary Finjan Inc has eventually agreed to settle a dispute with Avast Software company. Finjan had filed a complaint in the court earlier this year against Avast and its sub-company AVG Technologies, accusing them of the breach of contract and patent infringement.

In the new agreement, Finjan satisfactorily dismissed the claims against its licensee Avast filed early this year. After a lengthy discussion between the two companies, consent was drawn leading to an extension of service between them. The dispute terms, however, remain confidential.

Finjan Holdings’ CIPO, Julie Mar-Spinola, points out that the acquisitions between business partners are normal for any company’s growth and the previous disputes with Avast were more influenced by the increasing demands for more pertinent cybersecurity solutions needed for web users. This places too much pressure on the companies’ capabilities to meet the growing wants, needs, and requirements of customers.

Finjan said that it believes in amicable agreements and places a high value on the growth of their industry.  They cited their reason for ending controversy with its partner as the desire to develop their security space by practicing best business agreement terms that enhance economic growth of the industry. The firm promotes innovative inventions in cyber security management.

According to the news from NASDAQ, the company also has other pending lawsuits against the several business affiliates, that is, the Sophos Inc., Sophos, Inc., Symantec Corp., Palo Alto Networks, Blue Coat Systems, Inc., ESET and its affiliates and Cisco Systems and others.

They are alleged to have infringed on more than 20 patent licenses in the firm’s portfolio. For instance, Finjan filed a claim against Cisco Systems accusing them of violating its five patents of cybersecurity products. In 2016, Finjan last year, Finjan won the case against its business partner Blue Coat Systems Inc and succeeded to recover USD39 million. The long list of lawsuits that the firm has against other affiliates could make it difficult for potential firms to partner with Finjan Holdings Inc in the near future.
