Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) Steps Forward To Protect Climate Along With Other Businesses

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) has decided to join American Business Act on Climate Pledge in coordination with White House Office of Public Engagement and other US Corporate Climate Leaders.

AMD and other participating organizations pledged their support for an action-oriented and decisive outcome at the United Nations Climate Summit negotiations that took place in Paris. All the participants came together and created a forward-looking statement containing necessary goals to improve overall climate protection.

The senior management team of Advanced Micro Devices was delighted to announce this initiative and hoped that other market leaders would also join forces to protect the climate.

According to Tim Mohin, Director – Corporate Responsibility, Advanced Micro Devices, AMD has always supported initiatives necessary to protect the climate. It’s great to join other corporates in publically recognizing that an economy that emits low carbon is good for the business world, planet earth and especially the entire human race.

He further added that AMD had been supporting the climate for over two decades by establishing goals necessary for green environment. With this new initiative, the company has decided to extend its climate protection efforts to make products energy efficient.

The year 2015 was one of the best 12-month periods for the company as it reached many sustainable milestones. As part of its five-year environmental goals between 2009 and 2014, AMD managed to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions from all the non-manufacturing sites by 24%. In addition to this, it has also reduced the global energy use by 31% after 2009 and transportation emission by 32% over the last few years.

Going forward, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) looks forward to achieving recently announced 25×20 goal under which it tends to improve the energy efficiency of its mobile APUs (Accelerated Processing Units) 25 fold latest by 2020.
