Windstream Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:WIN) Announces The Expansion Of Its Metro Fiber Network In Knoxville

Windstream Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:WIN) has announced that its Metro Fiber network will be expanded to Knoxville.

Windstream made the announcement revealing its intention to expand the Metro Fiber to more regions and Knoxville is the latest city to benefit from the network expansion efforts. Knoxville is the third largest city in Tennessee and the presence of the Metro Fiber network will offer a lot of advantages. The network expansion is expected to facilitate business development in the city. The world-class network will allow commercial buildings and local data centers to be connected via the high-speed nationwide fiber network.

“With a metropolitan area that has grown to more than a million residents and is home to a number of influential companies and organizations including the University of Tennessee’s flagship campus, Knoxville is an incredibly important regional economic hub,” stated Windstream regional president Jeff Lowney.

Windstream hopeful about the new network expansion

Lowney pointed out that Tennessee has experienced a lot of growth over the past five years. He added that Windstream’s aim with the network expansion is to facilitate continued growth through its fixed wireless network and fiber network. The company believes that the expansion will offer great benefit and that it will attract a lot of customers.

Windstream is already well established in Tennessee. It previously announced in 2016 that it had successfully completed expanding its metro fiber network in Nashville. The latest network expansion in Knoxville will allow the firm to offer a high level of service as well as an expanded product suite. The expansion of the network including the fixed wireless service will allow connectivity to commercial buildings as well as the major data centers in the city.

Windstream’s metro fiber network is expected to offer various services including network, voice and cloud services. One of the major beneficiaries of the expanded network will be the University of Tennessee, Knoxville which expects to offer internet services to more than28,000 students. The company plans to continue expanding its network to more areas in the future.

Windsrtream stock closed the latest trading session on Tuesday at $4.33 after the stock tanked by 2.04 percent compared to the previous closing price.
