SPYR Inc (OTCQB:SPYR) Participates In Gamescom 2016, Now World’s Biggest Video Game Event

There is little to no doubt that the global economy is highly unpredictable with oil and gold prices fluctuating like a seesaw. However, one sector that is flourishing with awesome growth potentials is the mobile gaming industry. The worldwide game sales are primed to grow by billions simply due to the fact that U.S. video game industry grew four times faster than the entire U.S. economy from 2009 through 2012. Across Android and iPhones, gaming occupies more than 40% of mobile app usage and offers both an interactive and a social experience to users. Moreover, the simple fact that people start playing mobile games at a younger age and continue to do so as they age will add more number of gaming users. The recently concluded Gamescom 2016 at Cologne, Germany held on August 17 to 21 was a massive success, thanks to about 500,000 visitors who flocked more than 800 exhibitors. Accordingly, it is now the largest video game event in the world, beating rival expos in the US and Japan.

Some of the participants at Gamescom 2016 included Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ:ATVI) and Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:EA).  SPYR, INC. (OTCQB:SPYR), another company about which we have previously written, was also in attendance, among others.

Activision Blizzard Activision Publishing, Inc: Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ:ATVI) has revealed the newest line-up of addition to its prominent franchises. The latest titles include Skylanders Imaginators, Destiny: Rise of Iron, and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. The Destiny; Rise of Iron had just received a universe expansion while the Call of Duty: Zombies in Spaceland for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare had its global debut at the event. On the other hand, Skylanders Imaginators had also received a couple of major updates that will make the gaming experience better. Currently, Call of Duty; Infinite Warfare is being developed for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Electronic Arts’ All-New EA SPORTS FIFA 17: At Gamescom 2016, Electronic Arts has issued a new gameplay trailer teasing the all-new EA SPORTS FIFA 17 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The title is expected to have its US debut on September 27 and its global premiere on September 29. David Rutter, Electronic Arts Executive Producer and General Manager (GM), suggested that fans are in it for major surprises, citing that the upcoming release marks a “revolutionary season”. Following the introduction of a narrative-driven mode in June, the company is now adding up to the excitement the biggest FIFA Ultimate Team season.

SPYR’s Pocket Starships Update (OTCMKTS:SPYR): Meanwhile, at Gamescom SPYR Inc. showcased its major update to Pocket Starships, its most recently published title. James Thompson, SPYR CEO and President, believes that attending major industry events like Gamescom gives the company an excellent opportunity to market its offerings and introduce its latest products. Paul Thind, SPYR Director of Mobile Games and Applications, similarly noted that participating in huge video game expos enable the company to further put its name on the map. The recent increase in trading volume in SPYR, Inc. (OTCMKTS:SPYR) suggest renewed interest from traders and investors.
